Indian Farmers In Agricultural

Hello Arvind
India is an Farmer country. Nearly 70% of the population is engaged  population is engaged . There is ample land in India. There is bright sunshine to fertilize the soil. There are rains to help the growth of the crops. There are rivers and streams to supply water to the fields. Bullocks and buffaloes are there to draw the plough. There is enough man-power to get the maximum yield from the land. Yet the Indian farmer is poor. He has many problems before him.

India  presents a paradox-poverty in the land of plenty. The Indian farmer cannot get the bare necessaties of life. He is in always gold. He does not change with the times. He spends about six months in doing nothing. Till it rains, he has nothing to do. His crops suffer if the rains are untimely. He is uneducated. He does not use modern means and methods of cultivation. Sometimes he has no money to buy seeds, manures and fertilizers. He cannot pay the cass for the water from dams. He cannot save his crops from floods and droughts. He is at the mercy of the money-lender. The money-lander exploits him.                                     There is also much pressure on land. It has to feed many months. Further, our holdings are very small. They are also scattered. Hence application of mechanical devices becomes unprofitable. This is one of the reasons why even today our indian farmers stick-up to the old method. Since the achievement of Independence in 1947, our National Goverment are doing their utmost to improve our agriculture on all fronts. Top priority was given to agriculture in the first five year plan. So also the Second and the third five year plan gave it due importance and place. They are arranging to increase agriculture productions in various ways.

Jagirs and zamindari systems are gradually being abolished and thus they are trying to make the tillers of the soil real masters of the land. They are also giving better marketing facilities.                                                                            They are establishing Debt settlement boards and cooperative sale societies to help the farmers. Similarly, adult education is being imparted through radios and exhibitions. Efforts are also being made to prevent the plant diseases, Arrangements are made for the supply of better tools, chemical-manures and better seeds to modernise our agriculture. To provide work for the farmers in their off season, Cottage Industries are being revived and encouraged. Goverment has constructed a big factory at sindri in bihar for the production of chemical fertilizers and it being supplied to the farmers for their field.

There is no doubt that our Agriculture has been making tremendous strides and achieving creditable success and inspiring the farmers and the planners. All the measures adopted by our Goverment are sure to improve our food position. They should seek cooperation of all the parties and do their and do their best still further to attain self-sufficiency in food.on it depends our progress in all respects. Indian farmer is the back-done of our entire economy. It is hoped that sincere and all out efforts with patience will surely solve the problem to a great extent.
